Cobell Lawsuit & Settlement

Upwards of 30K in Arizona to share in $3.4B Cobell settlement

As many as 30,000 members of tribes in Arizona are expected to benefit from the $3.4 billion settlement to the Cobell trust fund lawsuit.

Most will receive $1,800 from the settlement. But some tribal members with large dollar activities in their trust accounts will receive much more.

Some members of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, for example, will receive $1 million, according to an account for the plaintiffs' attorneys.

Judge Thomas F. Hogan approved the settlement after a fairness hearing last Monday.
