Navajo Nation police officer killed while responding to incident





A police officer for the Navajo Nation was killed in the line of duty on Saturday.

Sergeant Darrell Curley responded to a domestic violence call in Kaibeto, Arizona. He was shot and killed. Another officer, Vernon Begay, was also injured.

"Sgt. Curley was one of our finest and a commendable police officer of the Navajo Nation, who had the experience and courage to serve and protect our citizens," Navajo Nation President Ben Shelly and Vice President Rex Lee Jim said in a press release.
