Two men plead guilty in connection with branding of Navajo man

Two men pleaded guilty in connection with the branding of a member of the Navajo Nation in Farmington, New Mexico.

Paul Beebe, 27, pleaded guilty to attempted kidnapping in the first degree, a second-degree felony, and third-degree felony aggravated battery. Jesse Sanford, 25, pleaded guilty to attempted kidnapping and fourth-degree conspiracy to commit aggravated battery.

The pair admitted their roles in the kidnapping, beating and branding of Vincent Kee, 23, a Navajo man, in April 2010. Their pleas came after a third man, Wlliam Hatch, 29, was cleared of most charges after a trial in state court this year.

All three face a hate crimes trial in federal court. The trial is set to begin October 3.
