Nearly 600 people from the Lake St. Martin First Nation in Manitoba were evacuated from their reserve nearly three months ago and it appears they won't be able to go back home any time soon.

The Canadian government plans to spend $100 million to drain the water from Lake Manitoba and Lake St. Martin. But Chief Adrian Sinclair said his people need a better solution -- a new, or temporary, reserve.

"What about my interim village? What about my children, our elders? They live in limbo in Winnipeg," Sinclair told CBC News.

Winnipeg is about 168 miles from the reserve.
