Miccosukee Tribe gets rid of police officers who signed petition

The Miccosukee Tribe of Florida fired its interim police chief and seven police officers.

The officers who were fired were among those who signed a petition that complained of a “hostile work” environment, The Miami Herald report. The petition was delivered to interim chief Xavier Gonzalez, who was also fired.

“It doesn’t matter how good of an employee you are. There is no sense of loyalty there,” fired officer Dennis Zayas told the paper.

The tribe fired former chief Thomas Loughren last year.
