New chairman takes over Little Traverse Bay Bands after recall

Dexter McNamara has taken over as chairman of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians in Michigan.

McNamara was serving as vice chair. But since tribal members recalled chairman Ken Harrington, McNamara was elevated to the top post.

"I'm going to set up my own agenda," McNamara told The Petoskey News-Review.

As part of his new duties, McNamara will get to name a vice chair. He hasn't said who he might choose.

McNamara was also targeted in a recall but survived the vote.
