California Gov. Jerry Brown (D) signed an executive order on Monday to establish the position of Governor’s Tribal Advisor.
Brown signed the order at a meeting of the Tribal Alliance of Sovereign Nations. It cites the "inherent" sovereignty of tribes and the state's desire to work with them on a government-to-government basis.
According to the order, the special advisor will:
• Serve as a direct link between the Tribes and the Governor of the State of California.The position is unpaid and has yet to be filled. Get the Story:

• Review state legislation and regulations affecting Tribes and make recommendations on these proposals.
