Hopi Tribe warned its federal contract funds are at risk

The Hopi Tribe of Arizona could lose access to its federal funds, The Navajo Times reports.
The tribe hired Henry & Horne to look into its finances. The firm said the tribe is three years behind in its annual federal audits, putting $18 to $22 million a year at risk.
The firm also said the tribe's finance department has been in disarray. There's a large staff turnover and most of the top management positions have not been filled.
The tribe has had 10 finance directors in the past 15 years, the firm said, the Times reported.
