The Crow Tribe only has nine officers to patrol a 2.2-million acre reservation, the largest in Montana.

The limited law enforcement presence has Chairman Cedric Black Eagle worried. He's said the reservation has seen a rise in violent crimes, including the deaths of four people in less than two months.

"We're not accustomed to violent crimes like this on our reservation anywhere," he said. "I know there's other types of crimes, drug and alcohol issues, but not the violent crimes that we've unfortunately seen as of recent," Black Eagle told The Billings Gazette.

Black Eagle hopes to secure more resources to boost public safety on the reservation.
