Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval (R) appointed Ted Quasula, the chairman of the Nevada Indian Commission, to serve on his cabinet.

Quasula is a member of the Hualapai Tribe of Arizona. His appointment marks the first time in state history that Indian Country will be represented in the governor's cabinet.

“I am honored that Ted has agreed to serve on my cabinet,” Sandoval said in a press release. “As Chairman of the Nevada Indian Commission, Ted will bring a needed and important voice to my cabinet.”

Quasula has more than three decades of law enforcement experience.
