Man claiming to be Apache charged for wildlife law violations

A man claiming to be Apache has been charged with violating wildlife laws in the United Kingdom.

The 60-year-old man goes by Mangas Coloradas, the name of an Apache chief. The South Wales Evening Post photographed him in "traditional native American dress" at a court appearance.

The man pleaded not guilty to possessing dead badger paws and the wings of birds of prey. His lawyer claims he acquired the animals "abroad" -- presumably in the U.S.

"My client is part of a native American Apache tribe. His belief means he travels abroad and lives in these communities in the summer," the attorney told the paper.
