Tule River Tribe seeks to diversify economy with gas station

The Tule River Tribe of California opened a gas station and convenience store, its first off-reservation business venture.

The Eagle Feather Trading Post II is modeled after the gas station near the tribe's casino. It's part of the tribe's goal to diversify its economy.

“We need that to expand business because we can’t always count on the casino,” council member Kevin Bonds told The Porterville Recorder.

The tribe bought the station from the prior owner and remodeled it before reopening.
