Choctaw Nation partners with school for 'Choctaw University'

The Choctaw Nation and Southeastern Oklahoma State University are launching "Choctaw University."

More than 100 people are participating in the first year of the effort. They can take part in a leadership series or a continuing education series with the goal of becoming more effective leaders.

“Developing highly skilled, highly qualified workers is the goal of every organization. Choctaw University is about more than professional development," Susan Stockton, the executive director of Human Resources for the tribe, said in a press release.

Southeastern Oklahoma State University is based in Durant. About 30 percent of the student body is Native American.
