Richard Gomez: Portraits show Chumash Tribe is still here

"“We are still here.” It’s a phrase you hear in Native American communities around the country — a reminder that indigenous people are more than just a long-ago chapter in U.S. history.

An art exhibit, titled “Portraits of a People,” will be on display at the Lompoc Museum’s Centeno Gallery until May 27. You’ll be able to view original pieces of artwork by a dozen artists from the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians."
