Blackfeet Nation man pleads guilty over mother's murder





A man from the Blackfeet Nation of Montana pleaded guilty in connection with the death of his mother.

Mark Saint Storm Heavy Runner, 44, admitted he killed his mother 71-year-old Marie Heavy Runner, on July 1, 2011, after the two got into an argument. He strangled her, drowned her and placed her body in a crawlspace in her home on the reservation.

Marie Heavy Runner's body wasn't discovered until November 2011. Mark Heavy Runner was arrested and pleaded guilty to a charge of second degree murder.

Another person, Thomas Charles Marc Heavy Runner, 21, has been charged in connection with the crime. He pleaded not guilty to a charge of accountability to murder.
