Moapa Band starts 50-mile walk to protest power plant





The Moapa Band of Paiute Indians is leading a 50-mile march to protest a power plant next to the reservation.

The march starts on the reservation today and ends at the federal courthouse in Las Vegas on Sunday. Tribal leaders hope to call attention to air pollution from NV Energy's coal-fired Reid Gardner power plant

The tribe filed a lawsuit aimed at stopping the power plant from expanding a landfill. Reservation residents deal with pollution from the site every day.
