Louis F. Burns, a member of the Osage Nation of Oklahoma who documented the tribe's history and culture, died last week. He was 92.

Burns wrote more than a dozen books about the tribe. He was always eager to share Osage history.

“He will truly be missed by the Osage people,” Kathryn Red Corn, the director of the Osage Tribal Museum, told The Bartlesville Examiner-Enterprise. “Mr. Burns was a good friend to our museum. He was a repository of tribal history.”

Burns, who served in World War II, also was a teacher and college lecturer.
