Oglala Sioux Tribe honors activist Russell Means on special day

The Oglala Sioux Tribe of South Dakota honored one of its most famous citizens on Tuesday.
The tribe recognized June 26, 2012, as Russell Means Day in honor of activist Russell Means.
He was presented with a proclamation that honored his “accomplishments, dedication and patriotism” to the tribe.
Means rose to prominence during his work with the American Indian Movement in the 1970s. He's become an author and actor while promoting education and sovereignty on the Pine Ridge Reservation.
