Family still hopeful for Alaska Native woman who went missing

Valerie Sifsof, an Alaska Native woman, went missing from a campground over two weeks ago but her family remains hopeful that she will be found.

Sifsof, 43, was camping with her boyfriend when she was last seen on July 7. Family members, including her father, Victor Sifsof, have continued to search the area even as state troopers have given up.

"There's a chance that she met with violence, or maybe she's not here anymore," Victor Sifsof told The Anchorage Daily News. "But there's a real chance she still is."

Valerie's boyfriend, Eliot Freeburg, 23, said the pair got into a fight before she left their campsite. He didn't report her missing for three more days.
