Walker River Paiute man charged with murdering Iraq veteran





A member of the Walker River Paiute Tribe of Nevada has been charged for murdering Jeremiah Sage, who was a member of the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation of North Dakota.

Waylon Hicks, 20, was charged with second-degree murder. He stabbed Sage with a knife on July 20, according to the U.S. Attorney for North Dakota.

Sage served two tours of duty in Iraq. In 2003, he participated in the search and rescue of Jessica Lynch, a close friend of Lori Piestewa, a Hopi woman was killed on duty in Iraq.
