HHS Secretary Sebelius visits 3 reservations in South Dakota

Kathleen Sebelius, the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, is wrapping a tour of three reservations in South Dakota.

On Tuesday, Sebelius visited the Pine Ridge Reservation and the Rosebud Sioux Reservation. She said funding is a critical issue for Indian Country.

"There's no question cutting resources would be devastating and it would I think jeopardize a lot of lives and a lot of futures. We still haven't fully realized the commitments that we have made," Sebelius told KSFY-TV, referring to proposals from the Republican party to cut the Indian Health Service budget.

Today, Sebelius is touring the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation.
