Ojibwe tribes planning for a ceremonial elk hunt in Wisconsin

The Great Lakes Indian Fish and Wildlife Commission has issued a permit for a ceremonial elk hunt in Wisconsin.

Ojibwe tribes retain hunting, fishing and other rights on land ceded by treaties. But state officials are questioning the plan to take one elk.

According to The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, there are only 185 elk in the state.
