Winnebago Tribe buys majority stake in indoor football team

The Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska has acquired a majority stake in an indoor football team.

Ho-Chunk Inc., the tribe's economic development corporation, will relocate the Council Bluffs Express to the city of Lincoln. The new team is expected to be called the Lincoln Haymakers.

“We want to do something obvious and high-profile in Lincoln,” Lance Morgan, the CEO of HCI, told The Omaha World-Herald.

The team will play at the Pershing Center in Lincoln.
