Former director of Ute Tribe economic arm cites 'meddling'

Forrest Cuch, the former executive director of the economic development corporation for the Ute Tribe of Utah, resigned due to political-based "meddling," KSL-TV reports.

Cuch said the council made a decision about Ute Tribal Enterprises without informing him. He wouldn't elaborate but he pointed to a lack of communication with tribal leaders.

"I went in and cleaned up their businesses and it wasn't appreciated," Cuch told KSL. "I fixed every problem that was brought to my attention.

Cuch, who said he might run for tribal office, started working for the tribe in July 2011. He served as director of the Utah Division of Indian Affairs for nearly 14 years before he was forced out last May.
