Mashpee Wampanaog Tribe elects two newcomers to council

Members of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe of Massachusetts went to the polls on Saturday to choose members of the council.

Chairman Cedric Cromwell won re-election to a second term. He defeated two challengers by sizable margins.

Two other incumbents, however, didn't fare as well. Jessie Baird won election as vice chairman, ousting incumbent Aaron Tobey.

Robert Hendricks won the treasurer's post. He defeated incumbent Mark Harding.

Marie Stone retained her seat as secretary. Charles Foster III won an at-large council seat.
