Senate committee to take up Sally Jewell nomination at DOI

The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee will hold a business meeting this Thursday to consider the nomination of Sally Jewell as the next Secretary of the Interior Department.

The committee held a hearing for Jewell on March 7. She vowed to make Indian issues a priority if she is confirmed as Secretary.

If the committee advances the nomination, Jewell will be set for a vote on the Senate floor. That could happen by the end of the month, which is when current Secretary Ken Salazar has said he planned to step down.
