Court affirms results of Seneca-Cayuga Tribe's June election

A judge with the Court of Indian Offenses has upheld the results of an election that was held by Seneca-Cayuga Tribe of Oklahoma in June 2012.

Tribal members voted for a second chief, a secretary-treasurer and other posts. But the winners were never seated due to a challenge by the tribe's election committee.

Judge Tom Walker ruled that the committee acted outside of its authority by disputing the election, The Miami News-Record reported. He directed the committee to certify the results.
