Sen. Murkowski leads Native voter outreach for Republicans

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) will be leading Native American voter outreach for the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

Murkowski was the first Alaskan and the first woman to serve as vice chair of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee. She won her 2010 re-election campaign with the help of Native voters in her state.

“I look forward to continuing to expand on our work and build a strong foundation between Senate Republicans and Native American voters,” Murkowski said in a press release. “It is vital that we understand the concerns and issues important to their families and communities. Republicans share many of the same values and ideals including personal responsibility, limited government and a path toward safe and secure energy independence. I am proud to take the lead and establish this ongoing, nationwide conversation on behalf of my Republican colleagues.”
