Bad River Band objects to exploratory work at mining site

The Bad River Band of the Lake Superior Tribe of Chippewa Indians is objecting to exploratory work at a huge mining site in Wisconsin.

The tribe says it wasn't consulted or notified of the work at the Gogebic Taconite mine. The site is within the tribe's treaty ceded territory.

Gogebic Taconite is planning a $1.5 billion iron ore mine that the tribe opposes.
