A federal jury convicted former Rep. Rick Renzi (R-Arizona) on 17 of 32 corruption charges.

Renzi was indicted in connection with a land swap opposed by most tribes in Arizona. Jurors found him guilty of using his office to pressure investors to buy property owned by one of his business partners.

Most of Arizona's Congressional delegation continues to support the land swap, which would allow the Resolution Copper Mining company to open a huge mine near a sacred Apache site.

Renzi served three terms in Congress before he was indicted in 2008. He had already announced he wasn't running for re-election by then.

His district at the time included the Navajo Nation and Apache reservations.
