The National Congress of American Indians is holding its mid-year conference in Reno, Nevada, this week.

Interior Secretary Sally Jewell is due to address tribal leaders on Thursday, the last day of the conference. This will be her first appearance at NCAI.

Assistant Secretary Kevin Washburn, the head of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, is on the schedule for Tuesday. He spoke at NCAI's annual conference in California last October and at NCAI's winter session in Washington, D.C., this past March.

Other speakers this week include Jodi Gillette, the White House advisor for Native American Affairs; Yvette Roubideaux, the director of the Indian Health Service and Mark Trahant.
