Little River Band installs new leader after tribal court challenge

The Little River Band of Ottawa Indians of Michigan installed a new leader on Wednesday after a challenge in tribal court was dismissed.

Lee Sprague, who previously served as ogema in 2006, won a special runoff election last month. He is the third leader of the tribe in four years, The Ludington Daily News reported.

An attempt to postpone the swearing in was rejected by the tribe's court on Friday, the speaker of the tribal council told the paper.
