Oneida Nation leader loses bid to stop removal proceedings

Members of the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin have collected enough signatures in their bid to remove Chairman Ed Delgado from office.

Delgado challenged the validity of the petition but the tribe's Appeals Commission said there were sufficient grounds to move forward. A hearing will be held September 5 to determine whether Delgado will face a removal vote before the general council.

Delgado is in the third year of his four-year term.
