Editorial: Cherokee Nation an 'economic dynamo' in Oklahoma





Newspaper praises Cherokee Nation as economic powerhouse and a good neighbor in Oklahoma:
The Cherokee Nation is a remarkable success story, and one for Oklahomans in and out of the tribe to look to with pride.

The nation released its annual economic impact report Tuesday, showing it has had a $1.3 billion economic impact on the state of Oklahoma.

That's a 25 percent increase since 2010, and testament to what already was obvious: The Cherokee Nation is a major player in the state economy.

The tribe employs more than 9,200 people. About another 5,000 people indirectly owe their employment to the nation.
