DC Council calls for elimination of football team's racist mascot

The D.C. Council voted 10-0 on Tuesday to pass a resolution calling for the elimination of the Washington professional football team's racist mascot.

The Sense of the Council to Rename the Washington National Football League Team Resolution of 2013 won't force the team to change the name. But it comes amid mounting pressure on the team's owner Dan Snyder and the NFL.

“Enough is enough — the name must go,” said council nember David Grosso (I-At Large), who introduced the resolution, The Washington Post reported.
