Warm Springs Tribes concerned about megaload shipments

The Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs Reservation have raised concerns about a megaload shipment in Oregon.

The 901,000-pound truck is currently parked at the Port of Umatilla. It's due to leave on Sunday and will travel through highways in eastern Oregon, near a forest conservation area that the tribe owns.

The tribe, however, was never consulted about the shipment, a representative said. And there don't appear to be any plans to talk to the tribe before the truck leaves.

The state Department of Transportation apparently contacted the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation before approving the shipment route. The truck will pass near the reservation.
