The creator of the Justice League United comic book series is introducing a Native character.

Miiyahbin is a 16-year-old Cree girl from Ontario. Her code name is Equinox and she derives her superhero powers from the Earth and changes in the seasons, CBC News reported.

“Creating a teenage female superhero was interesting to me because, generally, most superheroes are white males. We need diversity and we need different personalities,” creator Jeff Lemire told CBC.

Equinox will make her debut next month.
