Letter-writer says the state of Wyoming shouldn't pay the salaries of liaisons for the Eastern Shoshone Tribe and the Northern Arapaho Tribe:
The state legislature and the governor are doing the right thing by cutting out funding for the "tribal liaison" positions. They aren't liaisons at all. What they are is lobbyists for the tribe, pure and simple.

I am not saying there is anything wrong with being a lobbyist, per se. I did contracting work in North Dakota, and our association lobbied the legislature there on some important things.

All I am saying is, if the tribes want to lobby the state legislature, fine. Go ahead and do it. But it shouldn't be a government-funded position.
