Shoni Schimmel, a member of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, has been selected to play in the WNBA All-Star game.

Schimmel, who plays for the Atlanta Dream, won the third highest-number of votes among fans. She is the third rookie to ever be named to the starting lineup.

"For the fans to go out and vote, I definitely have to give it to them. For them to have my back and sit there and vote for me every day is just something they took pride in," Schimmel told the Associated Press. "They obviously want to see me in the game, so for them to do that means a lot to me."

Schimmel will play for the Eastern Conference team at the July 19 game in Phoenix.
