Actress with Native heritage cast in new version of Peter Pan

An actress with Native heritage has been cast in a Native-like role in the TV musical version of Peter Pan.

Alanna Saunders is reportedly a descendant of members of the Cherokee Nation. It wasn't reported whether she is a tribal member.

Saunders will portray Tiger Lily in NBC's Peter Pan Live! In the book and the Disney film version, Lily is the daughter of a chief in the "Picaninny" tribe

The production is due to air December 4.
