President Jon Greendeer of the Ho-Chunk Nation of Wisconsin won't seek re-election, The Jackson County Chronicle reports.

After serving one term in office, Greendeer, 42, said he wanted to spent more time with his family. He also believes it's time for a change in leadership.

“It’s tough to make it a full term," Greendeer told the paper, noting that he survived two recall efforts. "My goal wasn’t to make it a four-year term – my goal is to do my best.”

Six candidates have filed for president, the paper said. The primary will be held February 28 and the general election will be held on June 2.
