Students from a Tulalip Tribes construction program are using their new skills to help the homeless population in Seattle, Washington.

The students built two small homes for The Low Income Housing Institute. They will be used to help people who are currently living at the Nickelsville Homeless Encampment.

"I feel like it could turn someone around," Philip Falcon, a student who graduated from the tribe's program, told King 5 News. "A roof over their head, they feel secure. They can secure themselves and move on."

The homes measure about 8 feet by 12 feet, the station reported. The materials were provided by The Low Income Housing Institute.

The Tulalip Tribal Employment Rights Office operates the construction training center. More than a dozen pre-apprentice students graduated from the program yesterday, King 5 reported.
