A 10-year-old boy was found safe on Monday after spending 28 hours alone in the Ashley National Forest in Utah.

The Ute Tribe joined local and state law enforcement agencies in searching for Malachi Bradley, who got separated from his family during a hike in the mountains. He survived by finding his own food and keeping himself as warm as possible during a windy night.

"Malachi was checked out by EMT’s with Gold Cross and other that being hungry and a little cold was he was in good health," the Uintah County Sheriff's Office said on Facebook after the boy was found.

The is located in northeastern Utah and Wyoming. It is bordered on the south by the Uintah and Ouray Reservation, home to the Ute Tribe.
