Authorities in Oklahoma are looking for a murder defendant who broke out of jail on Sunday.

Paul Newberry, 24, was being held in Muskogee County for the murder of Charley Kirk, 88, a well-known rancher and former auction house owner who was killed in July. Newberry was arrested after a Choctaw Nation police officer noticed some suspicious behavior in the parking lot of one of the tribe's casinos.

Newberry is Indian, The McAlester News-Capital reported at the time. His tribal affiliation hasn't been reported.

Newberry escaped with his cellmate, who has been re-captured.
