The Senate Indian Affairs Committee has rescheduled a business meeting due to inclement weather in Washington, D.C. The committee was due to take up two water rights bills on Wednesday. Both will now be considered on February 3:
• S.1125, the Blackfeet Water Rights Settlement Act. The bill settles the water rights of the Blackfeet Nation of Montana. The committee held an oversight hearing on May 20, 2015, during which the settlement was discussed.The meeting will be immediately followed by an oversight hearing and listening session on the "substandard" level of care within the Indian Health Service. Committee Notices:
• S.1983, the Pechanga Band of Luiseno Mission Indians Water Rights Settlement Act. The bill settles the water rights of the Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians in California. The deal also was discussed at the May 20 oversight hearing.
