The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community of Minnesota continues to grow.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs declared nearly 47 acres as a reservation for the tribe, according to three notices that were published in the Federal Register on Thursday.

"The land was proclaimed to be Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community Reservation for the exclusive use of Indians on that reservation who are entitled to reside at the reservation by enrollment or Tribal membership," acting assistant secretary Larry Roberts wrote in one of the notices.

In 2015, the reservation grew by 104 acres and in 2014 it grew by 569 acres. All of the lands are located in Scott County.

The tribe owns about 4,000 acres in the county but only about half of its lands are in trust, The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported in December.
