Chief Phyliss Anderson of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians is facing a recall effort.

Tribal citizens who are part of a group called "Choctaw for Better Government" claim Anderson has handed out jobs to political allies, WTOK reported. They also say they are being asked to approve a new gaming facility despite rejecting it twice in the past.

The group has to gather enough signatures to put the recall to a vote. Anderson called their efforts "disappointing" in a statement to WTOK.

Anderson is the first woman to lead the tribe. She won re-election to a second term in August 2015.
