Our national security has always been one of President Trump’s top priorities and he demonstrated that during the speech. He embraces former President Reagan’s philosophy of “peace through strength.” Congress has worked with this administration to invest in our military and provide our men and women in uniform the resources they need to keep Americans safe at home and abroad. We heard the tragic story of Kelli and Gage Hake from Stillwater who were the president’s guests at the address. Kelli’s husband and Gage’s dad, Army Staff Sergeant Christopher Hake, was killed while serving his second tour of duty in Iraq. While on patrol, his vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb supplied by Iranian terrorist leader Qasem Soleimani. President Trump eliminated this threat so now other American families won’t suffer the loss of a loved one at the hands of Soleimani.
This was my first week back in DC after my son Jim’s wrestling accident & between the #SOTU & @realDonaldTrump's acquittal, it was a busy one. Thank you for your prayers & understanding as we continue to support Jim’s recovery. I am blessed to serve the great state of Oklahoma. pic.twitter.com/4FKjsBB1dj— Markwayne Mullin (@RepMullin) February 7, 2020
We are a nation of laws and Democrats’ support of open borders must not be overlooked. Thankfully, President Trump continues to put the safety of Americans over politics. There has been tremendous progress in combatting illegal immigration and his plan to tackle sanctuary cities will continue that progress. We can all sleep safer at night knowing that he is working to secure our southern border and standing behind our law enforcement. I am proud to support our President and his agenda that will move our country forward. From the thriving economy to the renewed strength of our military, I am confident he will continue his record-breaking path and keep Oklahoma, and the rest of our country, great.
