MAY 18, 2000 Voters in the Catskills school district have elected a slate of candidates who favor keeping the Indian mascot at the Onteora High School in Woodstock. The school board has already voted 4 to 3 to phase out the mascot by the end of the year, seen by some as racist and offensive. But debate over the mascot continued even after the votes were counted on Tuesday night. The new board has no plans to reverse its policy yet. Get the Story:
