The Supreme Court got a lesson in the history of the Cherokee Nation's battles with the state of Georgia in a lecture by Supreme Court Associate Justice Stephen Breyer. He noted that the Cherokee won their legal battles but lost their fight to keep their traditional land in Georgia and the east. Chilip H. Viles Jr., Chief Justice of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma Supreme Court, attended the lecture.
